SVideo input signal on BT878 card, how to set the channel?

Postby Red devil » 25 Oct 2004 17:56

Hi!

I installed the RPM of VideoLAN on my fresh Fedora Core 3 box yesterday.
Using some GNOME chat/XawTV programs I checked if my Canon powershot camera was working with the SVideo on my Leadtek TV Card (with the famous BT878 chipset). It gave a pretty nice picture so this works fine.

Moreover I tested whether I could stream a Mpeg file over my network using Uni- and Multicast. This also worked! :D

After this, I tried to reach the Canon camera from VLC player and subsequently stream it. When I used Capture Device the option is available to select a /dev/video device. I tried some channel settings but they didn't work, i get a blurry black image when I hit OK.

I also tried to use the commandline option to directly stream using the commandline:
vlc -vvv v4l:/dev/video:norm=pal:frequency=543250:size=640x480:channel=0:adev=/dev/dsp:audio=0 --sout '#transcode {vcodec=mp4v,acodec=mpga,vb=3000,ab=256,vt=800000,keyint=80,deinterlace}:std{access=udp,mux=ts,url=239.20.30.40}' --ttl 12
I played around with the channel option, but this didn't work either.
Does anybody have an idea to reach the different channels of my TV-Card?

Thanks in advance

Yeah the documentation is kind of non-existing on that subject. Apparently nobody has the need to watch more than the default channel.
I am trying to get to the composit channel.

Finally I succeded (the tension is mounting) but keep in mind that you will need another channel ( composit != s-video )

Here is my startcommand:
vlc v4l:/dev/video0:norm=ntsc:channel=1

This activated the composit channel select.
I assume that channel 2 will be the s-video.

If I find out how to specify this in the interface I will let you know

I've nearly the same problem... I can't find my svideo input in vlc. Please let me know if you find it!!

Thanks!

Hauppauge?

for this you need to use the WIN TV Source Selector from the hauppauge website.
