Is there a way to get VLC to play DVD from VERY beginning?

Postby jakobkraft » 17 Oct 2009 00:02

I know this sounds strange but my nephew who loves watching all the previews on Pixar and Dreamworks movies got all in a huff when he put a DVD in my machine and it jumped straight to the main menu (especially since there turned out to be five previews!). I know VLC can go straight to main movie or straight to main menu...but what if you just want it to play from the very beginning, seeing all the FBI warnings and junk, so you could see the previews before getting to the main DVD menu.
Is this possible?
Thanks in advance...!

Tools -> Preferences (Show settings = All) -> Input/Codecs -> Access modules -> DVD with menus
Then on the right panel untick the option "Start directly in menu", save and exit VLC, then it should work as you expect.

I still believe this option should be set to OFF by default since it is known to cause troubles with some DVDs but that's another story :)

Hi, I'm trying to do this as well but can't see any "Access modules" when I go to Tools -> Preferences (Show settings = All) -> Input/Codecs ->...

Oh, and BTW I'm talking about doing this from opening a ripped dvd, so I want to be able to right click on the VIDEO_TS folder and when I choose Play with VLC Media Player have it play based on the dvd structure, not just go to the main menu.

Any help? Thx.

When you click Input/Codecs, the Access modules will appear below it.

OK, so I got the Input/Codecs thing to expand (duh!), but when I choose Access modules there is no "DVD with menus" option...anyone?

Again, click the Access modules and the DVD with menus will come under it (there will be others too).
