Remember playback position?

Is this feature going to be implemented into a newer version of vlc? I searched a bit and found threads from last year saying it would be, but it hasn't happened. If you don't know what feature this is, I'm talking about playing a video, quitting the program (or shutting down), and having it remember where you left off next time you open the program. This is such a simple feature but it would be extremely useful to a lot of users.


P.S. Slightly off topic, but does anyone know of any video players that can do this (I'm on a mac)? I saw Quicktime 7 can do this, but that doesn't play 1080p movies so smoothly....
