Better Icon

Hello,

I'm a great fan of VLC and I use it for playing nearly all the media on my computer. I find that it's rock solidly stable and it's also really easy to use

The only problem that I have is with the icon. It's not very descriptive of what the application does. Namely, it plays media. I think a new icon should be made for the application and also for files that it plays.

The VLC player should have 2 images: 1 correlating to music and another correlating to video. The iTunes icon is great. Just a music note on top of a CD.

The music icon could be a simple music note like this:

The video image could be an old fashioned video camera like this:

For the application, the music note and the video camera could be the icon and for music files associated with VLC, just the music note could be the icon. For video files associated with VLC, just the camera could be the icon.

I'm not an artist so I can't create the icons or even do mock ups, sorry.

I totally agree, i cant see your image, but i know it has to be better than the current one.
I have realised that i do not use this app because the icon is ugly, it looks like an error fixing app.
Orange is a horrible colour, I have used MPC up until now but now find i need and equaliser for tv and movies,
i have created this account just so i can complain about it, its a terrible icon,
is there any way i can change it throughout the entire system?
everytime i see it i cringe,
please help,

Personally, I very much agree, although I suspect the developers may have a personal attachment "The cone icon used in VLC is a reference to the traffic cones collected by École Centrale's Networking Students' Association" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VLC_media_player)

It's not like it's almost trivial to change the icon in the Windows settings.
