0.7.0 Incredibly CPU Intensive

Postby bedouin » 12 Jan 2004 10:45

I'm running VLC 0.7.0 on two machines: a PowerMac G4/800 with 1gb of ram, and an iBook G3/800 with 640mb of ram. The Powermac is using dual displays, if it matters. Both are running OS X 10.3.2. VLC used to work wonderfully on both machines but now I'm noticing dropped frames, and a lot of CPU hogging. Older versions work slightly better, but the sluggishness has been most notable after installing the newest release. Is there a fix for this of some sort?

There is a bug with the mp3 audio decoder in this release, that we can't seem to track down.

i also have a 800 mghz ibook and noticed skipping, i went into prefs and took off any zoom and filters, it helped. Hopefully they will fix this soon though, i use vlc for everything.
