Postby biferi » 20 Feb 2010 19:27

I need help understanding Format Factoy settings?

I OWN a DVD and I am converting one of the VOB Files to AVi

So on the left hand side of Format Factory I pick DVD to File Type.

Then it loads all the VOB files so I pick the one I want.

Then on the Right hand side I pick AVi from the drop down list of what I want to convert it to.

Now next to this the tabe says Settings so I clcik iot and you can change things if you want.

So I see Video Type AVi this is right
Then it says Video Encode MPEG-4 XviD

I did not pick MPEG- 4 I picked AVi???????????????????????

And MPEG-4 XviD codec I had un installed a fue weeks ago??????????????? Please help

AVI is a very generic term for a video encoding method. XviD is a codec (compressor/decompressor). Many different formats use the .AVI extension.

I am useing Format Factory to convert my DVD VOB files to AVi or MPG-2

I just want to know wen I convert a DVDs VOB file to any other format if I want to keep the Video Bit Rate as is and have no Video Loss what sould I set the Video Bit Rate to???

8,000 kbps or 9800 or what???

I know the Higher the bit rate the bigger the file I don't car I want a good Quality Video.

I use Format Factory because DVD fab and DVD Shrink don't work for me
Thanks

sorry the eply you posted did not come through.

What I need to know is this.
Wen I open Format Factory and lick All to AVi on the left hand side the window that then opens in the center of the screen lets you add Files and pick the Quality.
But see the word High Quality and they say you sould be able to click on it and it shoud dropdown a list to pick from.

Nothing dropsdown what am I mising??

I don't know anything about this particular software, I'm talking about file formats and codecs in general.
