Hauppauge 1600 ATSC signal viewing

Postby boota » 17 Jan 2010 19:15

Hi,

New to using VLC in this respect...so I suspect there is something simple that I'm doing wrong.

Setup: Win 7. Hauppauge 1600 with digital input hooked up to OTA antenna. VLC 1.03

Problem:
When i try to view the video using open capture device-> DVB directshow->ATSC- Freq 695000Khz, I always get:
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'atsc://frequency=695000000'. Check the log for details.
I've tried a number of derivatives, run as administrator, etc, but it seems like VLC doesnt see the card. Windows Media Center sees the card fine, displays video, etc, all on the same machine, same setup.

So...whats the stupid thing I'm doing wrong?

thanks!

I would guess that VLC doesn't find the device.

You are sure that your device has BDA drivers installed?

The car works just fine on the same machine with Windows Media Center. By inference, the drivers are loaded, correct?

thanks

Device works with ProgDVB?

Nope. Sure doesn't. ProgDVB seems to know its there and think there are some drivers there, but report it failing to start. I ack the demark...not a VLC issue...but I'm not real sure what else to do...I've installed Haupaugges' latest drivers for the card to no avail.

thanks

I have the exact same issue: same card, same config, same error.

It isn't working in ProgDVB but it works in MediaPortal through BDA just fine. Surely there is a way, but I am not having any luck getting it to work.
