libdvbpsi error

Postby qbjorn » 31 Dec 2009 00:45

I have a problem using vlc (1.0.3) under Fedora 12 with a Terratec Diversty DT HS USB dual DVB-T tuner.
When I open capture device and tune into a transponder I get a lot of

libdvbpsi error (PSI decoder): TS discontinuity (received 4, expected 10)

and of course no picture/sound.
This happens for 2 out of 3 DVB-T transponders with free channels but the third seems to work properly.

When I reboot into windows with same hardware and open with vlc in the same way as under linux, all 3 transponders work properly.
What does this libdvbpsi error actually mean then?
It shouldn't be caused by hardware or signal since same configuration work under windows - right?

This means you lost TS packets, i.e. reception is bad. If this does not happen on Windows with the same hardware, I'd blame the Linux driver.
