How to tune VLC to be responsible for several file formats?

Postby batzi » 07 Dec 2009 04:30

I cann't find a possibility to make VLC the responsable program to open video and sound formats or to end that responsability. Only at the time of installation there seems to be a possibillity for doing that.
I didn't do that at this time and it is awfull to go every time the way of 'open with'.
How can I tune VLC after installation to be responsible for several file formats?
This problem I have especially with 'VLC portable' because there is no installation when I use it at other pcs. There even sometimes isn't it possible to choose vlc portable by 'open with'.

How should there be the possibility that VLC portable appears in the open with list on some computer you use it on? VLC Portable never was registered on that computer as it never was installed on it.

In the recent VLC versions you find a button in the settings for file association setup. Make sure that you run VLC as an administrator when you change these.
