MKV and sub problem

Postby eternal905 » 09 Dec 2009 01:34

Hi i have a problem with mkv streaming. I plays for few second and video pauses. Either i get sound or no sound when I'm time skipping around.
Also subs dont appear when streaming on the client's end but appears on mine. I'm trying to configure this on Mac and vlc 1.0.3.

Sounds like a bandwidth issue MKVs are usually for high def videos and if you are trying to stream this over the internet, you are probably going to have some problems. Have you tried transcoding the MKV? If so what codecs and bit rates are you using? Also are you what transmission protocol are you using TCP/HTTP or UDP/RTP

I have not transcoded mkv, I only encapsulated MPEG TS.
As the most of the transcoding options on the Advanced Open causes a video to play for like a few seconds or nothing at all.
Unless I'm missing something.

Also is there a way to enable subtitles in a mkv container on the client side? I see subtiles on my end but theres no sub track for my client side.
