Subtitle error

Postby Mr_Ripper » 14 Feb 2005 15:42

I've searched, but I couldn't find a thread for this.
My friend gave me some movies in OGM, they have a str subtitle track.
When I play the OGM with the subtitles on, I get alot of \n appearing in the text, this is annoying when you are trying to watch a movie.

My friend uses Zoomplayer on Windows, and he says it works fine. I use the latest version of VLC on MacOS Panther, and the \n is beggining to annoy me.

Any ideas? Even if I have to edit the str I'd like any help.

is it a srt subtitle file, then only edit it to replace all \n with newlines. Perhaps we will fix support for this in newer vlc versions

SO do I just remove the \n and put the text on a new line, by pressing return? I can do this in any text editor like TextEdit right?

BTW, i'm pretty sure it's illegal to use \n as a newline indicator in the Subrip standard.
