VLC Player has been at 0.6.2 since 14th of August. Is it still in development? If so why the long delay? Just curious.

PS. Thank you so much for this wonderful player for OS X! I check in every week at this website for news and updates!

A test release will be made available shortly. A final new release (0.7.0) will be available in about 3-4 weeks.

As to why it is changing so long, look at this list:

I check here every week or so also, for the Mac OS X version. Looking at the log, I like the idea of the Mozilla plugin. It will be good if VLC gets to a stage where I dont need to use any other media player (besides iTunes of course).

Wow! That upcoming feature list for 0.7 is most impressive. :D

I'm looking forward to the update!

just curious, but are there any plans for a timer record function to be built into VLC?

requests are for the requests forum, and there are no plans for that. As you can see by the list of things, developers are very busy implementing their own ideas. Something as 'unimportant' as a timer record function is not really a priority. You can use external programs for that to launch vlc at a specified time with the correct parameters.

Hello,

Nightly builds are available at http://vthr.via.ecp.fr/~videolan/build.

But you can wait just a little more, vlc-0.7.0-test1 is due out within ... let's say two days.

Does this mean that VLC 0.7.0 will be able to view MPEG 4:2:2 streams from a Dreambox on MacOS X in a similar way to Tuxvision on the PC?

That's great news DJ. I'll be testing it as soon as the Mac OS X version is released.

it is.
http://www.videolan.org/pub/testing/vlc ... -test1.dmg

But i'm not sure if the OSX version has the 422 feature yet. it requires a CVS version of libmpeg2 i think, which the OSX version doesn't use yet.

Thanks for the link to the test build. 4:2:2 will make it a killer app but firstly I need vlc to display the transport stream from the dreambox (see posting in Tech forum)

VLC had 4:2:2 support before it started to use libmpeg2. Perhaps you could try version 0.5.3 or older? Just as a curiosity
