no sound when watching dvd

main: couldn't find a filter for the first part of the conversion

thats what it says when i try to watch a dvd on VLC. Anyone know how to fix this? I want to be able to hear what they say and just not see :/

VLC version?
Is this purely local play, or is it a problem when you try to stream?
Did you use the forum Search function, using the keywords:
your_OS DVD audio
to see if such a problem has already been reported and solved?
