DRM'd files can't be played in VLC.
Sigh.
m4V via iTunes is a popular format, and lots of queries like mine (see below) are popping up on the Net.
So ... VLC/VideoLan needs to
openly and
explicitly state DRM incompatibility of iTunes-based m4V on the home page or here:
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/features.html
IAC..is there a Plugin or other "hack" either avail. or in the works so VLC can play them back? I'm not a copyrights violator. I paid for these files and now, thx to Apple/iTunes' forced "upgrades", my PCs cannot effectively play them back. I
think one of the main reasons is that the latest QT/iTunes needs duo-core Pentium (post May 2005); I "only" have a P4 from mid-2004.
