I have the exact same problem. It's really annoying. Such a great software and tiny annoying bugs. :(

Did you find any solution?

Me? No! I hope somebody fixes it in the RC3 maybe, because RC2 also has the same bug.
Didn't really want to hijack the thread.

Unfortunately they didn't. I downloaded rc3 and it has the same bug. Ironically enough the bug wasn't there a few versions before rc.

I really hope they fix it in final release. By the way, do you know how could we report this. :?:

Full a bug:
https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/

To do this make an account, and PM an Admin for a request to be validated on trac (not me since I'm just a forum Admin :P) or ask on IRC.

Arite.

I'm a bit new to this forum. It will take some time to get used to it so excuse me if I posted the bug mistakenly. (In a wrong forum)

Thank you for quick help. :)

Firstly hope I have put this in the right place. If not I am sure I will be directed to the right place. Have 2 Questions for comment:

1 - Have been testing a few of the nightly builds of VLC 1.0 and have just downloaded version 1.1.0 dated the 22 June 2009 and there still seems to be an issue trying to open a DVD on the Hard Drive. In previous versions including 0.9.9 to play a DVD this was the process;

Media >>>Open Folder, then select the VIDEO_TS folder and the DVD would load and runs its menu. This does not appear to be possible now, this is the error message:

VLC is unable to open the MRL’dvd://’

2 – Has there been any changes to the ActiveX control as pre version 1.0 would not provide full 5.1 sound. Unless I am mistaken these nightly builds still have the same ActiveX functionality. A comment please.

Thanks

Yes the AVI container is supported, as are most video/audio codecs used in AVI file. For more information:

System: Windows Vista x64, 3Gig Ram, nVidia 8400 GS, Intel Core2 Quad.

Just been offered and accepted VLC 1.0.1 from the automatic update... installed, and now I can't do anything while a file is playing without the darn thing crashing. Can't select menu options, change subtitle tracks, audio tracks, move the time line... well it's seems to only corrupt the screen if I perform multiple little hops, but go too far and bang it crashes.

Also... Media -> Quit has no function, and the close button now minimizes it to the system tray. The only sure way to quit the application now seems to be via the task manager.

Think Imma try to downgrade my copy of VLC... this shouldn't have made it out of beta let alone RC like this. :(

the following things STILL need fixing in your wonderfully rubbish 1.x.x versions.

the HDTV pixellation issues that don't happen with 0.9.9
the stupid buffering function, please remove it.
that fact that any 1.X.X version suddenly sets gamma up far too high (this one is a new problem).

It is a good media player. You can see any kind of file format in VLC player. One thing I noticed in VLC player, when you play a DVD, and the aspect ratio changes, VLC doesn't resize itself to the video content, leaving black bars on the side. Since I have it set.

Hello!

I'm a Hungarian man, so I apologise for my misspellings.
My problem is, that in win7, when I reel in a film, the tray is come up, and I don't know why... :?
This problem I had in XP too in older times... I hope in the next version of VLC the problem will solve in win7 too. =)
(I have 1.0.3)

Where is the win64 version ?

It's time for 64 bit, expecially to play HD content (VLC have some troubles with AVCHD 1980x1080 streams even in dual core machines) !!!
