Just browse for the actual movie file itself. I believ it's in a directory called something like 'mpegav' and each chapter will be called something like 'avseq_1', 'avseq_2' etc...

The only file in MPEGAV folder is AVSEQ01.DAT which is about 800 MB

That means you only have one single file/chapter then.
But that is what you need to open in order to play it in VLC.

Oh damn, playing the .dat does work.

I'm surprised that the movie is put into a .dat file, all in a text-extension format  But anyways, thanks! :)

I was just wondering how you would put subtitle on though. I was browsing through the many topics, but couldn't find any options where a .srt or .idx or .sub file was not invovled. As in, when I try to search for a possible subtitle file, I just can't find any. I also noticed the option of opening the file with checking the box for subtitle options, but none of the files produced the required result. Just wondering if I maybe did something wrong or if anyone has possible suggestions.

I don't know that VLC can play VCD subtitles. Like Closed Captions they are little understood by most video hobbyists. Unlike Closed Captions the standards are, I think, proprietary, some kind of Phillips/General Instrument thing I believe.
