DVD will not start...

Postby Vulgo » 08 Jan 2004 22:57

Hi

I could not really find an answer in the forum about the following problem.
I tried to watch a DVD region code 1. It doesn't work. When I start VLC there comes a popup saying:

dvdread: libdvdcss cannot open source
dvd: dvdcss cannot open device
vcd: search for kIOCDMediaClass came up empty
vcd: failed to get the TOC
vcd: no movie tracks found
cdda: search for kIOCDMediaClass came up empty
cdda: failed to get the TOC
cdda: no audio tracks found
access_file: file /dev/rdisk1 is empty, aborting
main: no suitable access module for `/://dvdplay:///dev/rdisk1'

Is this a problem of VLC or my G4 or css or what else? I have watched region code 1 DVD's before on the same computer...

I can watch the same DVD on my regular DVD player and TV without problems...

I am using a Powerbook G4, Mac OS X 10.3.2 and VLC 0.7.0.

Is there finally no way around flashing the firmware to watch such a DVD on my Powerbook?

Kind regards,
Vulgo
