Inability to reorder the playlist seems like a major regression, can anyone from vlc acknowledge this bug?

Yes, I can confirm (I don't deal with Qt4 playlist code though).

It's a really annoying bug :-( Is there any ETA on a fix (or instructions on how to downgrade to 1.0.1)?

It's fixed in 1.0.3. Should be released in a few days.
