Terrible sound on all movies!

All movies sound like --please stay polite--... can hardly hear anyting form the movie from all the fuzz...

Sounds more or less tlike when you are really drunk and make you'r speakers produce three times as loud music as they are capable of... (You know what I mean?

I have the same problem, but on linux debian sarge rc2 with kernel 2.6.8. It might be the motherboard or something if we have different os's. I have an nforce2. I personally think the problem is in the codecs. If anyone knows anything about this, please help, thx.
