Does set_subtitle_file only work on seekable status?

Hello,
I have try to use libvlc_video_set_subtitle_file on rtsp streaming video which is unseekable, but it does't work.

Is this a limitation of the API ?

VLC cannot synchronize a subtitle file with an RTSP stream as they use incompatible timestamps.
