using VLC with a foot pedal

I downloaded and am using the VLC Media Player Foot Pedal Utility 2009.09. This was working great until today, when in the middle of working, the foot pedal was no longer recognized. An uninstall and reinstall of VLC and the Foot Pedal Utility didn't fix the problem, although the status of the foot pedal is "connected". The foot pedal works with Express Scribe, so the foot pedal itself is working. Anyone else had this issue or have a suggestion how to solve it? Thanks in advance!

I haven't been able to get it to work at all. I have an Infinity foot pedal which is supposed to be universal. It's worked with every other program I've tried. It says the Foot Pedal is connected and the player is running but nothing happens.

A foot pedal is about $60 and it allows you to control the video without physically having to click on the video controls - Fast Foward, Play, Rewind, etc. You can just tap the foot pedal.

No "VLC", i.e. the VideoLAN project does not make that software.

That said, are you sure it did not simply break when you updated VLC?

Because they're exactly the same and the tutorial says open the VLC Foot Pedal software and then open the VLC Media Player and load your video and the foot player is supposed to run the player but you did not create that specific software?

I have written some transcription software (Linux only) which utilises Vlc and should operate with all known USB foot pedals, Vec Infinity, MicroDia, Olympus etc
