I have got the same problem here... The only player which works mplayer compiled for win32. You can get it at the mplayer web site or the vdr streamingcontrol web site.

I use vdr with the 0.3.1 streamdev plugin. When I use the streaming format PES I have the image but not eh sound, with PS, I have a grey image with nothing, with ES format, I don't have anything and TS too :(

It would be great if we could use VLC to play vdr streams... (with sound included :))

bump

Any idea when there might be a solution?

I tried to look at the source code myself, but I got so confused...

Sorry, that I am no help and just asking for this feature.

Bump2.

Amways the same problm.
Sometimes if we stream in PS format it works , but 99% it freeze on the first frame, PES stream gives a perfect image but no sound.

If i play .vdr files it's the same problm as in streaming, so the problm seems to be in the demuxer.

I can upload you all the sample you want, if you need to test.
But it mades years now this bug live in videolan, and never solved.

I'm sure it's a light tweaking, but my programmer skill is as low as a monkey with a PC. :)

sorry forgot to put a nick in the previous post.

I've tryed to upload a sample to ftp://stream.videolan.org but it seems to be down.

You can grab the sample here:

http://xmltv.Free.fr/001.vdr

should be a mpeg-pes stream.

I will try to make a sample of a PS stream from vdr streamdev server too.

If you find a solution for this issue could be great.

Any answer on this ? This bug involves lot of vdr users that want to use videolan instead of mplayer as network client.

If you can check the sample i uploaded and tell us if the solution can be corrected easily or if you need any help to solve this ?

Thanks

I would really appreciate if VLC could play *.vdr Files. That would make DBox2 a full streaming client to VDR.

PES streams don't contain any time information (which is required in proper MPEG streams). They are not meant for display and should only be used to transfer single tracks, not multiple tracks. To playback an mpeg file you should use the PS or TS format, since those are proper mpeg files.
Why PS doesn't work, i'm not 100% sure, we would need more sample files.

Can someone please upload a VDR TS or PS sample to our server again then? ftp://streams.videolan.org/incoming
We lost all our samples during a crash so..

i have uploaded a file containing PES stream from VDR.
ftp://streams.videolan.org/incoming/
vdrtest.pes
vlc will play this without audio, and this stream is not seekable and pause wont work.
when making mpeg with projectX, vlc plays this file with audio.
projectX says:
Typ: PES (Video/Audio/TTX)
Video: 528*576, 25fps, 4:3, 7500000bps, vbv 112
Audio: MPEG-1, Layer2, 48000Hz, jstereo, 192kbps, CRC

it would be great if you put vdr support into vlc, or if you can tell us the problem.
Thanks

the reason why we want PES streams to work is, because all of the recordings in vdr are PES.
i found that these streams are not really PES.
the are AV_PES:
is the format used by the Siemens (Technotrend) DVB card internally. The audio AV_PES packets contain audio PES packets with a header that tells you wether there is a PTS in the packet. The video packets are video PES packets without the PES header (that really means the are ES streams) with a header that may contain a PTS. The data originally comes from a TS, but has already been processed by the decoder and is read from the decoders buffer.
maybe this will help you.

i actually upload on your server 3 raw dump samples from vdr, one for each streamdev format ( TS, PS and PES ) from the same broadcast input.

vlc just don't play the TS one, play fine the PS and play without sound the PES one ( mplayer plays all those file quietly ).

PS stream works fine in major cases, but sometimes it just don't play in some channels ( green screen or freezed frame ), vlc logs says :

Code: Select all

[00000244] main video output warning: vout warning: early picture skipped (15319081) [00000244] main video output warning: vout warning: early picture skipped (15667085) [00000244] main video output warning: vout warning: early picture skipped (15894769)
Unfortunatly i don't have sample yet of this.

Hope it helps..

Were you able to analyze the files? any hope for vdr streamers? ;)

Is it already fixed??

If anybody needs vdr files or something else please write mail:

I've uploaded a sample stream file (streamdev-cvs (vdr streaming-plugin), pes, no audio).

ftp://streams.videolan.org/incoming/vdr_pes.mpg 4,9mb

MPEG 2 PES is not a valid MPEG 2 container format. The format does not allow for proper audio video synchronization between the a/v streams. It should only be used for storage of seperate streams.
We just CANNOT support PES. Use either PS or TS. I have tested both these streams with the development build of VLC, and it worked just fine for me.

Sorry, i think it's annoying to be compared with mplayer, but why does mplayer can?

Because mplayer does synchronization based on decoded audio timeline (like most applications do actually) instead of using the timestamps in the fileformat.

Basically it works by accident.

Hi,

i'm sorry to tell but PS vdr stream don't works all the time either.
Some channels gives no audio/picture some times depending of the stream, but only a grey screen with those log :

[00000244] main video output warning: vout warning: early picture
skipped (15319081)
[00000244] main video output warning: vout warning: early picture
skipped (15667085)

In the file i've uploaded on your server months ago you can see this behavior.

Could you upload them again to ftp://streams.videolan.org/incoming ?

since we lost ALL our content in january, that's not surprising :D

BTW. early picture skipped again implies incorrect timing information in the source file. We cannot support a broken filetype if that means we loose funtionality for valid files.
