rotate a mov file and save

Postby nels » 20 Sep 2009 19:39

I'm Inexperienced and held the camera wrong. But, I'd like to share the clip.
Tools>effects>video effects>rotate- solves my problem until I share the file. Then it's sideways again.
I know VLC is a media PLAYER. But, I'm hoping.there is some way to save the file after it's been rotated.
Somebody suggested trans-coding, I though maybe they meant convert/save, but selection of that option brings up an "open" dialog rather than saving the file being viewed.
So maybe there's hope with the record button...but, if it records a file, where does it go?
Is it possible to obtain from VLC a copy that will play correctly (rotated 90 degrees) in another player?

Record button doesn't apply any filters. It just copies the data.

if you want to use VLC.

I would suggest other tools for the job, like AVIdemux or Virtualdub.
