MKV Seeking with VLC media Payer

I obtain matroska files with a very well known p2p program.I have set VLC to be the preview software from its options.With avi files (mostly !!) there are no problems.With avi files when there is a blank area where I want to play of the video file ,VLC shows nothing but the timer is going well and if encounters video data,it starts showing from there and everything goes fine.
But with incomplete mkv files it is very uncomfortable.You shuold exactly know that there is no blank data where you are seeking in mkv file otherwise it (mostly!! %60) crashes or rarely(%10) stops(not crash) and you can begin from the start while touching play button.Sometimes(%30) VLC freezes if encountered blank data while playing after a downloaded area.
Is there a way to fix my problem ? Plugin or something ?

Matroska stream demuxer has Dummy Elements option, but I don't think that will help very much.
