Why does vlc not run as root?

...vlc is history for me !!! Why does the vlc-team impose their will on the user? :evil:

I think that vlc has configure option that allows it to be run as root.

Not that one same topic again.

You can compile with --enable-run-as-root if you want to bypass the sanity check (e.g. for a root-only system).

Compile it yourself, use vlc-wrapper or stop using your machine as root.
