MPEG-2 .TS not playing at all

Okay, when it comes to video codecs, demuxing, etc i pretty much know nothing. Actually i still don't know what remux/demuxing is...

Anyway, i have a MPEG-2 TS file that when i try to play its just a huge black screen. Its a 1080p movie. No sound, no image. I see there are settings in VLC for VC-1 and MPEG TS but i dont wanna just play with them.

Quality: Blu-Ray
Format: Transport Stream
Audio the codec: AC3
Video the codec: VC-1
Video: 1920x1080p, 23.98fps 18.5 Mbit/s Average
Language: English: AC3, DD 5.1, 48 kHz, 640 kb

i only have a mac but i have seen some people have this issue on both PC and OS X soooo i just figured it would be fine here.

6GB 667 MHz RAM
2 x 3 GHz Dual Core Xeon
ATI Radeon x1900
Mac Pro
