AAC audio stopped playing altogether

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

AAC audio stopped playing altogether

Postby florinandrei » 16 Jul 2009 07:21

Something strange is going on. It seems like VLC has lost the ability to play AAC audio, either as an isolated .aac file, or as an AAC track in an MP4 container.

This used to work before very well. I've played numerous MP4 files with VLC. All of a sudden AAC is mute. All other formats continue to play just fine.

If I try the .aac file in Winamp, it plays just fine. If I try the MP4 file in QuickTime, it plays just fine. But VLC is silent on those files.

I am under the impression that the problem occurred after a recent software upgrade. Could it be that the upgrade to 1.0.0 broke VLC?
My OS is Vista.
