Transcoding or Viewing a Verint encoder stream??

Postby darinc » 19 Jun 2008 21:04

Has anybody viewed or transcoded a stream created by a Verint encoder? Verint encoders are also known as SmartSight and sometimes Nextiva

Example Verint encoders model numbers:
S1500e (one channel encoder)
S1704e (four channel encoder)
S1712e (twelve channel encoder)
S1724e (twentyfour channel encoder)

I spoke with Verint and they provide an SDK that works with ActiveX and directShow. Their codec does have a FOURCC code "SN40" but is stated by Verint to be proprietary. Communication to the encoder for stream start and stream stop commands is proprietary and hence I have not pulled a stream and viewed it via Wireshark.

I am not looking for 10 people to tell me it won't work, I'm looking for the needle in the haystack if somebody has dealt with this or got it working.

Thanks!

I'm doing the same tests with a Verint S1704 (4 channel encoder), with no success.

VLC detects the stream in a multicast mode, it detects the m4v stream, but it is unable to show the video.

Does anyone has been able to connect a verint encoder with vlc?

regards,

Max
