Grey subs when muxed in MKV, external subs are fine

Grey subs when muxed in MKV, external subs are fine

Postby Kim Jespersen » 06 Jul 2009 01:37

I have a strange problem. Some of my DVD -> MKV conversions comes out with grey subs when muxed in the MKV file. I then removed the subs from the MKV and loaded the IDX/SUB externally and the subs were fine, white with black borders.

I then thought it was fine and remuxed the IDX/SUB into the MKV file but then, they were back to grey with white border.

What might be wrong?

TIA

Thx for the answer. I updated to 1.0 but it didn't work, still grey bold subtitles with white borders and in fact I got new problems.
1. When I turn the subtitles on, it seems to do an off-scale with a black bar in the top of the picture.
2. I can't load external IDX/SUB

So I'm bumping it back to 9.6 but thx for the answer :)
I can only hope the subtitles is only a problem in VLC but I think I'll try to ask on the Matroska forum as well.

It won't load external subtitle files or at least it won't load the files for that one specific movie right now, where I have the grey subs problem.

Can you paste VLC message and verbosity set to 2?
