Can't open/cature from Hauppauge HVR-2200

Postby sharbat » 09 May 2009 11:37

Hi,

I'm trying to capture video from the HVR-2200 twin hybrid TV card. Although the analog capture device is clearly present, VLC is unable to play it. This is one of the new wave TV cards with hardware MPEG-2 encoder. Any suggestions how to use VLC with it?

What error you get to VLC message log? Does it work better, if you try to open the device from command-line?

This is what VLC reports:
Capturing failed:
The capture device "Hauppauge WinTV-7164 Analog Capture" does not support the required parameters.

And no, it doesn't help if starting VLC from command line.

You also added dshow options as command-line parameters? e.g.

Code: Select all

vlc dshow:// :dshow-vdev="Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000" :dshow-adev="none"

Sharbat, did you ever figure this out? I have the same card and the same error.

Unfortunatelly not. Obviously, we'll have to wait for VLC player to support the new Media Center compatible TV cards producing MPEG TS/PS stream format.
