Trouble in Full Screen

I have lost my control panel in full screen mode on my wifes computer, she's running Vista, but it was there just two days ago and now it's gone, I've got XP on my computer (my controls are sill visible on full screen mode), we sat down together and went through the controls on per computer, and they all appear the same, but again, her controls just aren't there in full screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
