1.0.0 RC1 cannot open H264-AAC 5.1 or Surround

Hi, I just registered and proud to say that I'm using VLC since a long time and I would tell you that the 1.0.0 RC1 cannot open files wich are .mkv contains H264 with AAC 5.1 or AAC Dolby Surround track : I can quote movies files. The player opens but still display nothing and the processus have to be kill if we want re-open a new VLC window.

I appreciate the Buffer as we have with Media Player Classic, and the Resise inside the Window new parameter.

I'm french so I've got french divx french videos. The AAC 5.1 files are all Star Wars .mkv avalaible on P2P networks. Tropic Thunder in AAC 5.1 too, and I've got Hot Shots part 2 which audio tracks aren't 5.1 but Surround LR tracks, VLC 0.9.x displays it is a Surround track, the DVD at least.

I have several MP4 and MKV samples with AAc HE and LC 5.1 audio and all of them are working fine for me.

Please post 10 MB samples of your videos.

This sample contains A.S.S. subtitles and I guess you are using VLC v0.9.9. Unfortunately this version is known to have some problems with that kind of subtitles.

It's playing fine with VLC 1.0.0-rc2 though.

Confirmed. This has NOTHING to do with Audio.

Yupp; it's the subtitles. But RC2 can't handle them properly too. It lags for 5-20 seconds before it starts.

Thanks to found the clue would be the subtitles format, I guess it, but since yesterday I'm now on Vista SP2, and just here testing the RC2 : same lag for the same files, by the way I open it (right-clic or with Ctrl+O). But because one says it just worth waiting for 20 seconds and do not have the informatician reflex to kill the process to recover a fully operating system, it's OK.

I would just tell that this issue isn't important to be fixed right now because I use MPC (which have a DirectVobSub process-program) (thanks to the K-Lite codec pack) as for avi's as for all my mkv's.
I mainly use VLC for apple trailers .mov, play a DVD when MPC cannot, etc..

EDIT : now I've opened one of these files now VLC -RC2 opens without a long lag : it's great.
