.mkv HD files skipping

Hi,

Using known-good video files, I have discovered today that VLC is dropping frames on 720p HD .mkv video files, rendering the playback unwatchable. This problem occurs on VLC 0.8.6i and VLC 0.9.8a, with fresh installs of each. Before each install, the program and related preference files are trashed.

My system configuration is Macbook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHZ, 4GB RAM. The latest version of 10.5 is installed.

Any suggestions?

try a 1.0.0-devel build.

I've been looking around, but I can't seem to find said 1.0.0-devel build...would I need to compile that myself?

I have similar hardware if not the same, and would like to give this a try, since the framedrop is driving me insane...

Same problem ( or similar here) on core2duo at 1.86ghz, 1gb ram, 256mb video ram on Nvidea 7900 card, SB extremeaudio, VLC 0.9.8a and windows vista. The files seem to be mkv container with avc1 codec and a52 audio (resolution of the file is 1440x1080) [too big for my monitor, max resolution 1280x1024]. Plays fine with appropriate codecs on Nero ShowTime 9 and Windows MPlayer 11.

Have same issue here, noticed on mkvs made with Nero Recode, can't share files for some bothersome issues

Edit: forgot to mention, seen also in Linux and Win machines, latest stable VLC
