No SAP Announcements Ver 0.9.9

Postby ham45242 » 17 Apr 2009 13:03

Hello, all. While I have been using VLC 0.9.8a on both Fedora and WinXP platforms for quite some time to display SAPs on the VLC playlist from MPEG-4 streaming video sources in my lab. I have observed that this capability appears to be broken VLC 0.9.9 regardless if that version is used on a Fedora or WinXP box. When I re-installed VLC 0.9.8a the SAP capability was restored. Sincerely,

Hello, all, and FWIW at least I solved my VLC client playlist SAP display problem with ver 0.9.9 on both my Fedora 10 and WinXP platforms. The solution was to uncheck the default "Try to parse the announce" in the services/playlist/services discovery/SAP portion of the preferences settings. I don't require this option for my lab tests and it was checked in ver 0.9.8a. The SAPs that I have been using are generated from two VBrick Systems MPEG-4 encoder boxes. I can use either QuickTime or VLC as the client MPEG-4 player but only VLC can display the SAP announcements. So all this may not be a problem if VLC is also used as the encoder/sender as well as the client player. Sincerely,
