watching youtube videos with vlc

So Lately I have been using this cool greasemonkey script to watch youtube videos with vlc. The video will play really smooth and fast too. The problem is... the quality looks like crap. I mean even if I go back to watching videos without the vlc plugin the quality looks better. But I don't want to do that because youtube videos go really choppy for me. So how can I make the quality better? Here is the place where I got the script if you want to try it for yourself.

Just tell VLC to open the YouTube URL directly...
