Getting HTTPS Stream - Certificate could not be verified

Postby quorthon » 07 Apr 2009 16:10

Hello

If I type in the following in my terminal:

vlc https://xxxx.xx/quicktime.mov

I get the following error:

Code: Select all

[00000394] gnutls tls client error: TLS session: access denied [00000394] gnutls tls client error: Certificate could not be verified [00000394] gnutls tls client error: Certificate's signer was not found [00000394] main tls client error: TLS client session handshake error [00000392] access_http access error: cannot establish HTTP/TLS session [00000390] main input error: open of `https://xxxx.xx/quicktime.mov' failed: could not create access
If I go to this url with firefox I can see the movie in the firefox plugin. I've tried the following:
- Clicked on the Icon on the left side of the url in firefox>more information>view certificate>details>export and stored this x.509 Certificate (PEM) to /home/username/.local/share/vlc/ssl/certs

Then I tried again, the same error...

What do I have to do, to get this https-quicktime stream into my vlc? Thanks for your help.

Kind regards,
Peter

You need to export the certificate of the Root Certificate Authority, not the certificate of the server itself.

That depends on the which CA, and with which software.
