takes long to display video

Postby greendesert » 27 Apr 2009 03:09

Well, I don't understand why this happens with VLC

I am using an old P4 computer with onboard video. When I try to watch any movie i.e. avi or mkv file etc. the audio starts but video takes a long time to display.
And if I fast forward there is artifacts in the video and sometimes it hangs but the audio goes on. When I run BS Player or SM player, it plays perfect with no
such problem. But, I am fond of VLC and dont want to give up.

Is there any setting / tweaking which would help me get rid of this problem.

thanks in advance !

What is the video source?
Maybe there is no I-frame at the beggining of the stream?

Happens to me all the time. All I do it wait for the video to kick in (it's usually really choppy on my tv) then when it actually kicks in and looks right, I just drag the progress bar back to the beginning and it's fine. After that, I don't have any issues. Watching videos on it now and I think it actually worked fine this time.
