Not receiving multicast stream on Linux box

Postby truongbt » 25 Apr 2009 15:04

I have following problems.

When I stream mpeg files from windows to Fedora 8 and Ubuntu 8.10 in multicast mode (239.255.12.42) I receive no video images on linux boxes.

But it is ok to stream the same files from Linux box to windows in multicast mode.

It looks like both linux box do not pick up multicast stream?

What would be the problem?

Many thanks.

Most common problems are misconfigured firewalls and IGMP version mismatches.

I run
sudo ifconfig etho0 promisc

And it solved problem.

Do we have another solution?

In that case, it means your network interface card driver is buggy. File a bug against the kernel.
