Questions ablout ActiveX Control on IE?

Postby 5kinman » 03 Dec 2008 08:48

I am using the VLC 0.8.6i as the plugin for IE 7.0. When receiving multicast stream of a DVB-T source, the following problems occur:

1. The display area become a mess sometimes. Most of the area is filled with squares of either black or green. The remaining area can display something I think will be the correct streaming data. When checking the display state using vlc.input.state, the returning value is 3 (playing). Why would this happen and how to fix it or detect it automatically?

2. I found difficulty enabling the sub-title of the stream. No changes have been made as I am using vlc.video.subtitle = n, where n is 0 or 1.

3. When the streaming source has a nicam function (select multipal language for audio), I can only get the default language. How to select the second language?

Thx

Hi,

1. You should give a try to VLC 0.9.* (support for 0.8.6 is ended, and 0.9 give many improvements/fixes)
To detect it automatically, maybe you can use the vlc.log.messages (iirc) and parse debug/error messages and detect abnormal sequences or too high frequency for error messages.

2. Just to be sure, does your test stream contained a non-empty subtitle? :) You could try 2 and more, otherwise I don't know.
You can also read vlc.video.subtitle value, which is zero if set with an out-of-bounds value.

3. No idea. Maybe you could test using third parameter of vlc.playlist.add(). This third parameter accept most of things like ":commandlineParam=value :etc :etc"

good luck

Thx for the reply.

I can change the sub-title and the audio track after using VLC 0.9.8a. (0.9.6 seems does not support H.264 when receiving stream, but 0.8.6 does).

But sometimes the screen is still with rubbish (green / black squares). Still trying to fix this...

I'm not sure, but maybe your problem is the protocol...When I try to watch an RTP-stream with an UDP configuration, I have the same problem. Try to change it in the add.item (udp:\\@ ... or rtp:\\@)

Good luck :)
