Video problems playing DVD

Any time I try to play a DVD in VLC I get this problem with the video:



I found that I can play the .VOBs on the DVD fine, but for some reason when I select play disk I get this problem. I suppose I could just play the DVDs from the VOBs, except a lot of my DVDs seem to split up the film into smaller VOB files.

I am using Windows XP Service Pack 3.

Any Suggestions?
