Aspect ratio always too narrow.

Aspect ratio always too narrow.

Postby thavinator » 02 Apr 2009 05:23

I'm having a problem with VLC always squishing video horizontally no matter what aspect ratio I try to select or what the aspect ratio is of the source. I've tried setting monitor and source aspect ratios to 16:9 for 16:9 content, but that doesn't seem to have any effect--well, trying different aspect ratios changes the result, but nothing gets it remotely close to right. The problem is most pronounced on 16:9 sources (which display at something like 4:5 on my laptop's 1920x1200 screen), but even 4:3 sources are a bit off. The video that is displayed fullscreen on my TV (1920x1080, hooked up to laptop via secondary DVI>HDMI) is always off as well, but by different amounts. Is there something I'm missing or something outside of VLC that could be causing this?
