Automatically mute sound on fast forward

Postby uncle_fester » 15 Mar 2009 01:02

Is there a setting in VLC I can set that will automatically mute the sound when I select the fast forward (or the "faster") button?

And will the sound automatically resume when I return to normal speed?

I'm tired of hearing the chipmunks talk when I fast forward. Any help on this would be most appreciated. Thanks...

Activate scaletempo filter and you will loose the 'chipmunks talk'

Are you talking about under Tools – Preferences – Advanced mode – Audio – (+ expand the list) – Filters?

And then tick the “Scale audio tempo in synch with the playback rate” box?

"there's no way to automatically mute it on fast forward... "

But you can remove the weird voices with scaletempo or use of VLC 1.0.0

Wow, this is the first video player I've used (computer-based or standalone-based) that didn't automatically mute on fast forward! I'm shocked!

Anything beyond 1.00X and the audio is supposed to just shut off automatically. Even my old Apex cheapie DVD player muted when you fast forwarded (or rewind).

Two questions:

1.) Why is this not a feature in 0.9 VLC??

and

2.) I only see where you can download 0.9.8a - Where can I download 1.0.0?

Ok, with no response forthcoming, I guess that means VLC 1.0.0 isn't available for release yet, is it?
