For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

how to make VLC send out igmp v2 packets on windows 2003?

Postby cwflying » 07 Dec 2004 06:57

I am using VLC client on windows server 2003(enterprise version), how to make VLC client sends out igmp V2 packets rather than V3? because the video server does not support igmp V3 now.

Maybe some tuning about igmp on windows 2003 should be carried out, but I have not done it before, anyone could help me?

Thanks a lot!

This is an OS problem entirely.

The OS should send an IGMPv2 request if it detects an IGMPv2 only device on the network.

There might be a registry fix for that. Have a look on M$ knowledge base.

yes, I know it.
But I can not find the microsoft's hotfix for this on windows 2003 platform
I have searched microsoft's website, and found the article talking about this, but no hotfix download.

Anyone can get this hotfix?

PS: I have reviserd the register anout TCPIP's parameters(adding "IGMPversion", default value is 2), it works(sends out v2 packets), but after system rebooted, still v3 packets sending out.
