Configuration window is to "long"

Postby ShemaAnnika » 07 Mar 2009 16:11

hi =)
at first i want to say thanks for the VLC player, its just the best player =)
but since i got my new AcerOne laptop, i got a little problem, the configuration dialog window is to long, so i cant click the ok button or apply button :(

its because the widescreen resolution 1024x600 or something.

i think this images displays the problem:

maybe this window should be resisable :-)

greetings and keep up the cool VLC player...

Yeh, have this with WinXP @800x600, but with height instead.

Have to turn off the Windows taskbar and drag the configuration window up as far as I can so that I'm able to click "Advanced". Once that's done, I can resize the config window so it's small enough that I can get to the 'save' button.

However, what's horrible is that when you close VLC down and reopen it, the config window reverts back to simple mode (as in, "advanced" isn't saved when you click "Save").

(FWIW, I completely quit using VLC because of this (after having used it for years) and switched to MPC. If there are more that feel the same way, the fix for this should be patched in at least the latest nightlies soon.)

instead of hiding the taskbar you could simply right click the preference window's title bar and click "move".
then drag the window up from it's center instead of the titlebar, that'd make your life easier

That doesn't work though on Windows because of the type of Window the configuration window is. You can only move it a tad bit.

On that note, would you happen to know a circa date for a final of the 1.0.0 ?
Not sure if you guys work with release schedule, or the "it's ready when it's ready" model :)

Thank's for a great product !

EDIT.:

Just noticed that this was posted in the VLC for Windows section.
With that in mind, I'd just like to say that.

- The stream config window rezise issue exist on Ubuntu 8.10 running VLC 0.9.4

And rephrase my previous question to the following.
Will 1.0.0 also include the fix for non the non windows VLC versions?

VLC 1.0.0 should fix the issue for all platforms that use QT4 dialogs. So Win and Lin.
