Vlc nedia Player (No sound)

Postby trmyer » 04 Mar 2009 02:57

Had VLC ver 0 8 6 b for quite some time and did not have any problems.
Installed VLC ver 0 9 8 a on 3/3/09. I am only having problems playing WMA audio files. Videos work fine as well as playing other audio file types.
Here''s the strange part.
Will not play most wma files but will play some. Windows media player Plays files that VLC will not.
Looked at all possible setting to no avail. Un-installed and re-installed and did a reset. Could not figure out the problem, so I re-installed ver 0 8 6 b . Not that ver has the same problem.
When playing VLC (either ver), wma file is selected and opened and the bar moves as though the file is playing, but no sound.
select many other wma files and same results. Select another one and that one plays.
Any Ideas

After several hours of looking into, I found the problem. Somehow my music files got to be License Protected.
Check Properties. Evidently, VLC does not play license protected files. I have not seen a parameter in VLC to allow this, so if anyone knows where this is , let me know.
