Need Help with External USB Audio Interface

Postby sumyungai » 11 May 2008 02:00

Hi. I'm running 0.8.6f on my PPC Mac running OS 10.5.2, and have just added a Tascam US-122L USB audio interface. The interface appears in the AUDIO DEVICE menu, but when I select it I receive no audio. Audio w/ VLC is fine through my internal audio. All other applications (Quicktime, iTunes, CuBase, etc.) work fine with the Tascam, with VLC Player being the one exception. I have had absolutely no other issues with VLC player. (Oddly enough, when I use the US-122L on my Windows laptop, VLC Player works fine with it. It's only my Mac version that has this problem.) Please help. Cheers.

Same issue using Tascam US-144.
Mac OSX 10.4.11 - iMac 17" - VLC 0.9.8
US-144 chosen in System Prefs as audio device.

US-144 shows in VLC audio device menu, and is chosen, but will not produce sound. VLC works fine with internal speakers.
Tascam works fine with all other audio.

Original post is nearly a year old. Any fix?

TIA,
pete

The answer is in the debug:
auhal warning: this driver does not support kAudioDevicePropertyPreferredChannelLayout. BAD DRIVER AUTHOR !!!
Without that, VLC cannot determine the order of the audio channels.
Don't use PMs for support questions.

I've got a similar problem

I've got a Griffin iMic USB

setting it as default audio output device via HalLAB, VLC plays to it just fine

choosing its device number via auhal output preference, i get no output.

OSX 10.5.8

Mac mini core2 duo 1.83GHz, 3G RAM

vlc 1.01

i've tried this in the past as far back as 0.8.6 and it has never worked.
To help you, we need messages, to completely understand what your problems is.
To fix this, please be sure before you start the playback to:
  1. Open: Tools -> Messages.
  2. Set Verbosity to 2
  3. Start playback to reproduce your issue
  4. Save text in a file or copy into clipboard
  5. Then paste the full resulting log here between [code]and[/code] (or use Pastebin.com if it's too long)
Also don't forget to name your Operating System and provide the VLC media player version.

Are there any updates regarding this issue? How can i test the nightly builds or contact a developer so we could sort this problem out? It's really frustrating.. The funny thing is that vlc worked great with us144 on any other release of hackintosh and it doesnt work on the real mac.. Ironic
