Track Number for audio files

Hi there,
I've started using VLC a fair amount to play FLAC audio files (MAC OSX, although I don't think its a operating system problem), however I can't get it to show the track numbers. It only displays artist, name and duration. I seem to remember older versions displaying far more information, but I can't find a way to add those columns.
Is this just a general lack of features, or is something wrong here ? I have the latest version.
