another stupid question i need answered :)

I am falling in love with VideoLAN...it's a great product!

I'd like to know if it is able to rip the audio from a .mpg music file to a .wav file? I have been messing with this program for 12 hours (on & off) & I can't seem to get it to work.

is there something I'm doing wrong? is this feature not available?

i'm sorry if i've posted this under incorrect forum.

any & all help would be most appreciative.
thanks

Hello,

Yes it is possible.

You need to use stream output with transcode :
use this parameter for transcoding : Audio codec (acodec)=s16l
and use this for muxing : mux=wav.

thanks for the reply, I've been looking everywhere to find the settings you've told me to use, but i can't find all of them. some are under the "wizard" & some are under preferences.

could you please direct me to how to enter these values.
again, your help is greatly appreciated.

thanks

File -- Open File. That's where you pick the original file. Down in the lower left, select the "Stream output" checkbox, then press Settings.

This opens the Stream Output window. Select the File checkbox and type in an output filename (c:\myfile.wav)

Down in Encapsulation method, select WAV

Down in Transcoding options, select Audio codec, pick S16L from the dropdown list.
