VLC 1.0.0-git and MKV issues

Postby Lotesdelere » 07 Feb 2009 18:35

Sample:
ftp://streams.videolan.org/streams-vide ... titled.mkv

Video playback is very choppy with a lot of stuttering. No subtitles are displayed.
Notice that no subtitles are displayed on v0.9.8a either but at least the video playback is fine on this version.

Sample:
http://rapidshare.com/files/113536801/S ... _.mkv.html

Wrong aspect ratio. No sound at all (Vorbis). No subtitles are displayed.
This file is playing fine with subtitles (SSA) in v0.9.8a though.

Sample:
ftp://streams.videolan.org/incoming/SRT ... d-Subs.mkv

This file contains integrated SRT subtitles. The subtitles always stay on screen untill a new subtitle text is displayed. They are never erased. However the behaviour is correct if an external SRT file is used, the subtitles vanish from the screen after the specified time.
This does not occur with a MP4 container and the same source files. And again this kind of MKV files is playing fine in v0.9.8a.
(Sorry for the bad video quality at the beginning but it's a fast made cut for showing the integrated SRT behaviour. Anyway believe me it happens with every MKV video with integrated SRT)

Works just fine here video playback is fine, subtitles are working as expected.

All is fine, except that the Japanese characters in SSA subtitles angel is misplace. (#2040)

Works fine as well.

I do agree with random. All of the samples work perfectly with 1.0.0.

About the Suzu one, I am impressed that VLC can even display those things.

I can reproduce all of your problems... when using libavformat instead of libmatroska to demux.

VLC 1.0.0 is prioritizing FFMPEG over libmatroska... which seems wrong.

If only I had read this post before the resinstallation (deleted preferences etc) of v1.0.0-git which ended up with the same results...

Indeed the build you gave me has no libmatroska.dll.
Neither a libmkv_plugin.dll like v0.9.8a has.

I hate you :P
