It would be a convenience if files and directories were persistent between program executions. The play list save always defaults to "my documents," an area I almost never use. It would be nice if it defaulted to the last directory saved into, so that it would be unnecessary to constantly re-select.

Yes! The most recent versions have improved the viewer's user interface significantly but this omission sticks as a continual annoyance!
Even persistence within one session would be a big step forward!
